Jamie Durie and Scott Cam will guide viewers through the process of demolishing an existing home and replacing it with a brand new steel framed two storey brick veneer home for a very special Mum (Sarah) and her daughters (Maggie & Angie). The most significant aspect of Stegbar's participation in this program is that it includes products from across the Stegbar range and Stegbar personnel worked closely with the TV producers, architects and designers throughout the design process to manufacture and supply products that would have a contemporary feel to them, optimise space and views, add value to the property and most importantly remain functional for Sarah who is mostly confined to a wheelchair after an workplace accident ten years ago.

Assisting the designers with this transformation is Joe Kuballa and Chris Thick from the Stegbar NSW SIS team, Scott Horne from Stegbar Showerscreens & Wardrobes at Erina together with installers Marshall Rogers, Javier Witenberg & Warren Potts and the committed teams in the Stegbar Moorebank & Lansvale factories who worked tirelessly over the traditional Christmas/January shutdown period to get products measured and manufactured.

Stegbar recommended the installation of cedar awning windows and cedar sliding doors for this home. Stegbar's cedar awning windows use a slimline profile for the frame to create a contemporary design that blended with modern architectural style. As the homeowner is mostly confined to a wheelchair, Awning windows were the ideal choice for easy access to the window and the chain winder allows easy operation without interfering with insect or security screens. Functionally, Awning windows can be left open during inclement weather to allow continuous ventilation and have been designed and manufactured with a combination of fixed and operating sashes throughout the house to maximise the view and deliver a distinctive finish. Stegbar stained all the cedar with four (4) coats of Sikkens Cetol Light Oak applied twelve (12) hours apart.

The cedar sliding doors in the downstairs living area provide an attractive flow through to the new deck, landscaped gardens and swimming pool. Bi-folds were considered however it became clear that sliding doors would be easier for the homeowner to operate from a wheelchair. As the design of the house featured weather awning surrounds, NSW SIS recommended that the tracks for the sliding doors be recessed so they are flush with the floorboards providing a smooth pathway for a wheelchair to the deck. Finally we added in an ADDIS automatic door opener so that the homeowner can go out and come in easily.

Inside the house, Stegbar went to work designing a functional walk-in wardrobe, built-in robe and practical linen cupboard upstairs to accommodate the Maggie & Angie's busy lives and finished off their separate ensuite and bathroom with stylish semi-frameless Grange showerscreens. In the master bedroom downstairs we installed a spacious built-in wardrobe with an internal fit-out configured for a wheelchair.

Both showerscreens have been installed with a Vitroglaze® finish. Vitro Glaze is a factory application that chemically fuses the surface leaving a permanent non-stick barrier enabling easy cleaning without the use of chemicals or scrubbing for the life of the screen.
