Activ is a 6.38mm laminated safety glass with a special transparent exterior coating that will last for the lifetime of the window. Its unique dual action uses the forces of nature - natural ultraviolet light and rain - to help keep the glass free from organic dirt.

Utilising the sun's UV rays, the Activ coating interacts with dirt, soil and other organic compounds to gradually break down and loosen them via a 'photocatalytic' reaction. It will not work on paint, varnish or inorganic compounds. After initial installation of your windows, the Activ glass needs to be exposed to UV rays for several days to activate the photocatalytic properties. Once activated, it will continue to work at night and on cloudy days.

The same Activ coating is also 'hydrophilic' causing water to spread instead of forming droplets. Rainwater sheets off the glass evenly, taking dirt with it and dries quickly to a clear spot-free finish.

Activ self-cleaning glass works continuously. Even cloudy days produce enough UV to maintain the cleaning action. And normal rainfall is usually enough to wash away the dirt. However, when rain cannot reach the coating because of awnings or overhanging eaves, a regular light hosing is all that is required to maintain clean windows.

The Activ coating is permanently bonded to the glass and will not wear off. It is completely transparent and will have no impact on the visual properties of the glass.
