When properly maintained Stegbar products will provide you with many years of reliable, quality service.

Windows and Doors

  • Clean all tracks on sliding doors and sliding windows with a brush or vacuum cleaner.
  • Regularly check and adjust sliding doors and windows where necessary to prevent scrapping damage to the sill.
  • Clear all sill drainage slots.

Windows and Doors – aluminium and hardware

  • Powder coated surface should be cleaned using a soft cloth or sponge in a solution of warm water and non-abrasive detergent every 6 to 12 months.
  • In industrial, marine, alkaline or acidic environments the normal frequency of cleaning should be once every 3 months.

Windows and Doors – timber

  • Please consult a reputable paint or stain supplier for specific advice on the most suitable surface preparation, application and type of paint/stain system to use, so that you achieve the finish which you require.
  • Stegbar is not responsible for any surface finishing defects on finishes not applied by Stegbar.

Showerscreens

  • Showerscreen glass should be cleaned daily, or at least weekly to remove soap stains, which if left uncleaned, can etch, marking the glass permanently, and possibly voiding this guarantee.
  • A plastic squeegee is useful in removing water and soap residue.

Frameless showerscreens

  • Check hinge and clamp fittings at least once every six months to ensure screws have not become loose, and that the hinges operate smoothly.
  • It is recommended to apply a couple of drops of sewing machine oil to the pivot pin on metal hinges every six months.
  • Check that there is adequate clearance between all glass edges and that buffers and stops are intact.

Glass and mirrors

  • To clean, lightly spray the face of the glass or mirror with a reputable brand of glass cleaner, following the manufacturer’s on pack instructions.
  • Alternatively, add a few drops of methylated spirits to a clean, nonabrasive damp cloth then wipe the glass or mirror. Buff with a clean lint free cloth for a streak free finish.
  • Moisture, and particularly liquid chemical cleaners, should be kept away from the back and edges of mirrors. If unavoidable ensure that you dry any residue immediately.
  • Eucalyptus oil, allowed to penetrate, will assist the removal of adhesive labels.
  • Diamond rings should not be worn when cleaning glass or mirrors. Toughened safety glass is subject to breakage from scratches.
  • A single edge safety blade can be used with extreme care to remove labels and spillages from glass. Use at an acute angle to the glass in a single motion. Do not draw back over the glass.
  • Take extra care when cleaning coated high performance glass. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning instructions or contact a Stegbar sales consultant for further information.

Showerscreen and wardrobe – powder coat and anodised aluminium frame

  • Aluminium frames should be wiped with a clean, non-abrasive damp cloth.
  • Wardrobe tracks should be kept free of dirt and dust with regular brushing or vacuum cleaning.
  • Regularly check and adjust sliding doors where necessary to prevent scrapping damage to the sill.
  • Occasional use of a mild detergent and warm water solution may be necessary to shift stubborn dirt and stains.
  • Under no circumstances use solvent or harsh detergents, bleach, scourers or any other abrasive cleaner on frame or plastic glazing beads. If residue from glass cleaning does come in contact with these surfaces rinse immediately with clean warm water.

Showerscreen hardware

  • To clean hardware such as hinges and joint connectors use a mild detergent and warm water solution to wipe clean. Then rinse with clean warm water.
  • Under no circumstances use solvent or harsh detergents, bleach, scourers or any other abrasive cleaner. Failure to do so may void the guarantee.
