Intro

Eight Decades in Australian Homes

Follow us on our journey from 1946 to 2026 as we celebrate 80 years of innovation and manufacturing in Australia.

Our evolution has put our products in thousands of Australian homes and trusted by generations.

1946

Where It Began

Founded in Melbourne, Stegbar began manufacturing windows for the post-war housing boom, bringing quality and reliability to the Australian building industry from the outset.

1950s-1960s

Helping Shape the Australian Dream

As suburbs spread and Australia grew, Stegbar grew with them. Our windows and doors became synonymous with the aspirational family home across every state.

Famed mid‑century architect Robin Boyd and Stegbar reshaped Australian architecture with our Windowall collaboration.

1970

Cedarlite International Louvre

Cedarlite introduced a stylish new way to manage light and privacy in the home. With adjustable louvre blades, homeowners could easily filter daylight and create comfortable, light-filled interiors.

1980

Expanding the door range

The introduction of the Governor Range marked another step in Stegbar’s expanding door offer, building on decades of product development across windows, doors and home design.

1993

Innovation in aluminium

Stegbar introduced the Aluminium Slimline Window, alongside continued improvements across glazing, hardware and installation - reflecting an ongoing focus on evolving products to meet changing Australian building needs.

2004

Opening homes in new ways

Cedar stacking doors joined the Stegbar range, followed by aluminium stacking doors later that year, helping create larger openings and stronger connections between indoor and outdoor living.

2010

Designed for Australian conditions

Stegbar introduced Bushfire Attack Level requirements across its aluminium product range, strengthening its focus on products designed to respond to Australian building standards and environmental conditions.

TODAY

Building for the Future

Today Stegbar continues to lead in quality, sustainability and design - helping Australians create homes that perform beautifully for decades to come.

The People behind 80 years

Stegbar's story has been shaped by the people who design, make, install and live with our products. Generations of skilled craftspeople, builders, architects and homeowners have built this legacy together.
